Stevenson is routinely ranked among the top public high schools in the country, and it is the main reason the Lake County side of Buffalo Grove commands a premium over otherwise similar homes a mile south. Four-time National Blue Ribbon recognition and a huge AP program back up the reputation.
One nuance from our closings: Stevenson-side homes carry Lake County's higher taxes and a resale premium — buyers knowingly pay both, and the math has held up for decades. In Buffalo Grove the county line is the school line: Lake County addresses generally feed Stevenson, while Cook County addresses feed District 214's Buffalo Grove High School — itself an excellent school.
